Returning Home: A Sonnet

Returning Home

___Returning Home___

Before she let the world into her head,

She moved through life intuitively led.

Guided by what felt aligned with her soul,

She’d go to sleep each night nourished and full.

Slowly some people would think her a threat.

They’d push and pull her until she’d forget

The wisdom that spoke from so deep within,

and her heart that sang like a violin.

At one point when things had reached a new low,

She crawled and couldn’t get up from the floor

But in this moment, quiet and alone,

A voice spoke in a familiar tone,

“It’s time to get up. You know what to do:

look within, listen, and be true to you.”
