My name is Allison and I am the writer and creator of Blue Like Water.
I dreamed up this blog because I wanted a space to share stories, observations, and life lessons that brought deep healing, new awareness, and creative flow into my life. All of which continues to offer me freedom.
Blue Like Water has quickly turned into the art project of my observant and introverted heart’s dreams.
For a long time, I struggled to use my voice in a way that felt confident and rooted in my truth. Through the years, I experienced *things* (just like everyone), made careful observations, took diligent notes, but held little confidence to share any of it with the world. I would sit in the background and believe that anything I wanted to share was undeserving of taking up space, and that I should make way for literally everyone else. Hm. If I found myself in a situation where I was sharing my heart, and someone told me I was wrong or dumb for doing so, part of me believed them, and I would retreat.
On top of that, It didn’t even cross my mind that I could be a writer. I believed that everyone else held access to the pen and somehow I didn’t.
I know I’m not the only one who has experienced this level of self-doubt or disbelief in myself. But listen, this isn’t a sad story, it’s just how I remember it. And since then, time has passed, things have changed, confidence has grown, and I delight in using my pen everyday, and sharing my heart and words with you.
In a big way, my story, struggles, and healing inspires my writing. The more I learn, feel, and discover, the more I want to share. Listening to others’ stories and wisdom helped me through some of my hardest moments and greatest unknowns. And while I am a work in progress, it’s my turn to do some sharing in the hopes that it can inspire, uplift, or support you. Or perhaps something here will offer a new perspective, affirm your intuition’s knowing, or spark a conversation.
Whatever it may be, I’m glad you’re here. Feel free to look around, comment, and let me know what you think. Cheers!
